What to Expect
When you call Ivy Hair to set your first visit, our helpful staff will be glad to answer all your questions, but we hope the following will help you to know what to expect.
The Exam
When you come for our office you will receive a thorough evaluation from one of our physicians that may include:
-Clinical exam review
-Family history review
-General health review and lifestyle
-Development of your personal hair loss treatment plan
Treatment
After diagnosis, treatments that might be recommended may include hair grafting, hair transplant, or medication, or a combination of these. Treatment options will be clearly explained to you by the physician to help in determining the right treatment plan for your needs.
Treatment can many times be performed using only local anesthetic and can take anywhere from 3-8 hours. There will be a follow up visit the day after surgery and you will be provided with detailed instructions on care and treatment of your scalp and hair during the next 3 months. New hair growth can begin with the first 3 months after treatment for applicable surgery.
Procedures
Based on your diagnosis, one or more of the following treatment procedures may be recommended: medication, hair grafting, and hair transplant or any combination of these. Ivy Hair uses advanced technology to assist us in delivering the most accurate hair loss treatment options available such as super-dense single-unit follicular grafts, scalp and hair line forehead advancements and reductions.
Dr. Khalifeh, Dr. Singh, and Dr. Mofid are highly skilled and use techniques that help to ensure minimal scarring and the best possible outcome. Procedures can be performed under general anesthetic.

Medications
Medications such as Minoxidil and Rogaine can be used to stimulate hair grown for certain types of baldness. It supports and maintains hair grafting and reconstruction efforts and replace medications such as Rogainel (Minoxidil), Propecia (finasteride) and Latisse (bimatoprost). Additionally it can be used to maintian and support the results of surgery.
Hair Transplanting
Hair transplanting involves moving (transplanting) sections of naturally occurring follicular units of hair from one location on the scalp to the bald location. Usually the transplanted hair follicles are “harvested” from another location on the scalp that has good hair growth. The follicles are placed in a predetermined arrangement and density to ensure it is consistent with the current hair growth and pattern. We strive to create a natural hair line and avoid a "corn row" or "plug" appearance. This is accomplished with micro follicular and super dense techniques.

Hair Flaps / Scalp Reduction / Hair Line Advancement
Hair flaps relocate a band of tissue with its original blood supply to the bald area on the scalp. Hair flaps involve larger sections of growing hair than hair grafting. Hair flap surgery involves several steps but provides results in a shorter period of time.
